The Redlands Footlighters Theatre will present “2 Across,” a romantic comedy by Jerry Mayer, 8 p.m. June 4 and 5 on the Footlighters’ outdoor stage.

Deborah McFatter and Jeff Richards star in the Footlighters’ production of the two-person play, directed by Kerry Jones.

“2 Across” explores the relationship between two strangers on an early morning San Francisco BART train ride as they compete the New York Times crossword puzzle. More than their knowledge of words will be tested as they realize that their similarities outweigh their differences.

This production will be the third time McFatter, Richards and Jones have worked together in “2 Across,” according to a news release. They put the show on in 2007 for the Rialto Community Players and in 2015 as a fundraiser for the Adult Literacy Program at Redlands’ A.K. Smiley Public Library.

“I feel happy to get to direct this show again with my friends Deborah and Jeff,” Jones said in the news release. “I enjoy working with a smaller cast where we can really concentrate on the characters and their story.”

Suzy Pearce voices the train conductor and serves as assistant director. Corie McCarley is stage manager.

Tickets are $20, available beginning May 30 at redlandsfootlighters.org. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.

Those attending are asked to bring their own chairs, and masks are required.

The Redlands Footlighters Theatre is at 1810 Barton Road.
