Southern Collard Greens dont have to be difficult to make. We all have those family members who work on their greens all day. They have this special ingredient and that special ingredient. Here is how to make your collard greens stand out without all the work.

I used a 1 pound bag of Glory Collard Greens. Adjust the ingredients to the amount of greens you cook.

6 to 8 strips of hard smoked pork bacon

Half a medium onion diced

1 tablespoon of minced garlic

1 to 2 tablespoons of butter (I like Irish Gold.)

Olive oil

2 cups of chicken broth

4 to 5 cups of water

1 to 2 tablespoons of sugar

1 to 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar

Use your favorite seasonings. These were my choices

Webers Garlic Seasoning

1 packet of Sayon Goya

Sylvias No-Salt Secret Seasoning

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Fresh ground pepper

Red Chili Flakes

Even though my Glory Collard Greens came pre-washed, I wash them again with vinegar and water.

Slice the bacon into bite-sized pieces and brown in a deep non-stick pan. Add some olive oil to the pan and then slide in the onion and garlic. Sautee the mixture together. Put the lid on the pan and cook until the onions soften.

Now, combine the washed greens with the bacon, onions, and garlic. Mix everything up and let the greens cook down.

Transfer to a deep cooking pot and add seasonings, broth, water, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and butter. Check out the video to see what I did.

Now it

I usually use turkey legs or wings to season my greens, and I use a crockpot. If you have the time to cook the greens on the stove, do it. Seasoning the greens as they cook really makes a difference. I hope you try this recipe. Im sure youll love it.

Stay blessed,
